So the study of strong interaction became of a fashion of particle physics in the 1960s. This paper studies the contribution of David J. Gross to the discovery of asymptotic freedom and the formation of the theory of strong interaction, who is one of the key persons in the fashion and the winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics 2004.
